EuroConcepts at the Pacific Design Center
To say Albert Elihu is well known in the plumbing industry would be a vast understatement. For almost 30 years, he has held a legendary spot at the Pacific Design Center (PDC) in Los Angeles. With an infectious personality, a determined spirit, and a keen eye for sales, Albert is a proud THG dealer.
At his expansive PDC showroom, Albert sits behind a spacious desk in his office, surrounded by framed headshots that have been autographed by appreciative fans and customers such as Barbra Streisand and Brad Pitt. More remarkable than Albert’s celebrity clientele is the story of how he got to this point. As the youngest of four, Albert was the last of his family to come to the U.S. from Tehran after the Iranian Revolution. He acquired his Master’s degree from the University of Northern California in 1979, and moved to Southern California to live and work near his family. His path to becoming a leader in the industry started with a drive down legendary Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Albert and his brothers, Perry and Joseph, were seeking out new business opportunities when a modest Poggenpohl showroom on Sunset captured their attention. The brothers were familiar with the brand, as Poggenpohl is a German cabinet manufacturer recognized worldwide as one of the oldest brands specializing in luxury kitchen cabinets. Albert and his brothers walked into the one-man showroom, introduced themselves, and within a short period of time the wheels were in motion to open their own kitchen showroom in the PDC.
During his first year in the kitchen industry, Albert expanded his business to include construction projects on prominent residential properties in the Los Angeles area. It was while constructing kitchens that Albert was inspired to expand his business to offer plumbing and bath products. In 1979, Albert opened his own showroom in the PDC named EuroConcepts, and in 1985, he began carrying THG.
EuroConcepts just opened a new showroom space in the PDC and a large portion of the main window display is dedicated to THG. Albert made a conscious decision to allow the THG brand to be prominent in his showroom; the branded merchandising display is one of only a handful of featured names in the showroom. When asked about his perception of the brand, Albert passionately describes his love for THG products: their authenticity, exclusivity and discerning design, all hallmarks of the brand. Albert respects THG for its market impact and continual ability to raise the standard for high-quality, luxury bathroom suites. When listening to Albert speak about THG, it’s hard not to get excited about the brand yourself. With an almost whimsical esteem, Albert notes that when it comes to THG, there is not one aspect of a bathroom that they cannot make beautiful.
Surprisingly, the very first EuroConcepts customer recently returned to the showroom and even brought his original receipt. With an infectious chuckle, Albert gladly assisted the customer with a new request. Albert takes great pride in the personal attention that each of his customers receive. After being complimented on the beauty of his showroom, Albert humbly states that there’s much more to be done and that there’s always room for improvement. Before the customer leaves, Albert confidently shakes the man’s hand and tells him he looks forward to seeing him in another 25 years.
