THG in San Francisco Decorator Showcase – Tradition Cristal

Gleaming in Gold

THG-Paris added gold and diamond brilliance to an amazing powder room and alcove transformation in the Annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase – one of the West Coast’s premier design showhouses and charity events. This year, an elegant 9,000 square-foot mansion in San Francisco’s prestigious Presidio Heights featured the work of the country’s top interior and landscape designers, who transformed rooms and spaces into their own interpretations. Approximately 15,000 visitors tour the showhouse each year, and all the funds raised go directly to San Francisco University High School’s Financial Aid Program.

Kristi Will, of Kristi Will Home + Design created a luxurious retreat using THG’s gorgeous fittings in the powder room and alcove, located just off the grand entry. Using shades of warm burgundy and gold, mixed with delicate patterns, her creation captured the glamour of the decorated times of this historical home.

Kristi’s concept was born when she discovered a unique hidden telephone cabinet, built for the original homeowner, Alfred Sutro of Western Electric, within the walls of the powder bath. She cleverly weaved this discovery into her design by introducing a vintage Western Electric gold plated telephone into the alcove space – which prompted the use of THG-Paris’ Collection Traditionnelle’s Tradition Cristal faucet in 24 karat polished gold finish with gorgeous crystal handles – giving the bath a luxurious and feminine touch. In addition, THG-Paris also created a one-of-a-kind, gleaming gold sink.

“My clients love to incorporate THG’s bath designs so I am familiar with THG’s capabilities, attention to detail and quality craftsmanship,” said Kristi. “When I decided to incorporate gold hardware and fittings, I knew that THG-Paris could make my vision a reality. These handmade, gorgeous crystal handles in 24 karat polished gold – along with a luxurious 24 karat gold sink, added dimension and extreme opulence to my design.”

The powder bath also featured THG-Paris accessories as well as a regal, velvet burgundy cover and skirt, which concealed the toilet. Kristi’s plush, warm alcove also provided a detailed and welcoming sanctuary in purple and orange hues, with a captivating Art Deco carving c. 1928, providing an understated representation of the original painted monkeys that adorned the walls.

Scenes from ‘A Night in Paris’ a la Fixtures and Fittings

At a glance, it seemed that the finest from the City of Lights in the way of delicious nibbles, opulent products for the home, a dazzling guest list and naturally, champagne, was transported to the lavish Fixtures and Fittings, an upscale bath showroom in the Houston Design Center for a “Night in Paris.” Hosted by Fixtures and Fittings’ Vice President, Mindy Carter, the evening attracted some 100 esteemed members of the area’s design community. Serving designers, architects and decorators and headed by Founder and President, Aaron Laine, the four-year-old Fixtures and Fittings has quickly established itself as the “go-to” source for fine taps, furnishings and accessories for the bath, including THG Paris.

The event showcased recently introduced bath suites, fittings and accessories from THG, the luxury bath atelier, including those made in collaboration with equally stellar French brands, DAUM, Lalique and Bernardaud, and other exquisite collections such as SO., Traditionelle and Beluga. The evening also celebrated Fixtures & Fittings’ partnership with luxury offerings from Bronzes de France (fine decorative hardware) and Baguès (cast brass and bronze chandeliers, pendants and sconces), both of which have roots in classical French design from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Among the notable attendees: Pamela Pierce, Pierce Design and Associates, Rachael Miclette and Shelby Steed, Jacomini Miclette Design, Lucinda Loya, Lucinda Loya Interiors, Daniel Hall, Stern and Bucek Architects, Chandos Dodson Epley, Chandos Interiors, P. The gallery style showroom features high ceilings, open shelving and minimal signage, all permitting unobstructed views of luxury bath vignettes in a spacious and contemporary setting. Scott Triethart, National Sales Director, THG USAand Michael Risser with Bronzes de France / Baguès were also on hand at the event.

Aaron Lane remarked, “We are thrilled to pay tribute to brands hailing from France all of which represent the best in luxury and hand-crafted tradition. Our customers seek out exceptional pieces that not only add value, but that carry a level distinction and artistry. THG Paris, Bronzes de France and Baguès are found in the world’s premier properties and exude luxury in every detail. Bird Decorative Hardware & Bath

Bird Decorative Hardware & Bath has evolved into one of the premier decorative hardware and plumbing companies in the Carolinas. With showrooms in five cities, including: Charleston, Bluffton, Charlotte, Wilmington and Raleigh, Bird Decorative has adhered to it’s mission of great service and great products since 2003. According to Mike Wells, Manager of the Wilmington showroom, over the past few years, the showroom has expanded beyond their Carolina borders, with many projects they work on spanning the country and globe.

Bird Decorative recently collaborated with Dawn Moffitt Design, Inc., on an Ohio-based project that was featured on the cover of Housetrends Magazine (the Columbus edition). Bird Decorative and Dawn Moffitt have teamed up on numerous projects over the years, regularly turning to THG for their high-end, luxury bath products needs. Being featured on the cover of Housetrends is a particularly special moment for Bird Decorative, as Dawn Moffitt was the designer who introduced the showroom to THG to begin with. When asked if he recalled the first time they worked with Dawn Moffitt Design, Inc., Mike Wells chuckled, “Believe it or not, our working relationship with Dawn Moffitt – a local yacht designer- all started with a 24K gold trash can.” Mike wholeheartedly credits Dawn for opening his eyes to all that THG has to offer.
